The trope where a character overhears something out of context and assumes the worst is usually annoying and bad but I really think it works well in Shrek

We, the audience, know that Fiona is talking about herself but, regardless, she’s calling herself these terrible things because she is an ogre. If Fiona is these things because she is is an ogre what does that make Shrek?

If Fiona says no one could love her because she is an ogre, she is saying that Shrek is also unloveable whether she wants to or not.

Imo the scene is a really good portrayal of how when you talk poorly of yourself or others for having a trait, you’re also talking about every other person who shares that trait; even if you love them or think what you’re saying doesn’t apply to them.

Not going to lie, I saw the word “Shrek” and never expected this to be a deep post.

this is why you should care about the reddit strike

catgirl-techsupport

This is a big concern for the moderators internally too. We've checked our own subs in archive.org to see what is available and will be making steps to make materials available independently of reddit. Archival organizations are working overtime on Reddit right now because they know it might fucking implode soon.

You can literally make anything and anyone problematic if you try hard enough seriously give me people and things and I’ll make them all “problematic” right now.

Dogs.

sandersstudies

I don’t even have to do this one because PETA did it first by insinuating domestication is inherently abusive.

this is absolutely fucking pathetic now every single fucking streaming service is gonna start doing this shit. all y'all had to do was not watch Netflix and let it flop for a few months and they would have given up

infectedwithnyanites

Y'all still actually watch netflix?

hawthornvisual

i know it's easier to see a headline and get angry about it online than it is to look into the source, but if we all did a little digging, it's evident that this is misinformation. the source is a blog post from a tech startup that is advertising their data analysis services to other streaming companies. the spike in subscribers (which lasted for two days) occurred over a four day period, of which, only the 26th and 27th of may had above average signups, the previous two days were under 50k signups per day.

what their data (purposely) fails to show is the sharp decline in signups between the 27th of may and the first of june, the day that these features rolled out, because their chart cuts off before the password sharing crackdown even went into effect. their data also does not count the number of cancelled subscriptions, and does not distinguish between free trial sign ups and paid subscription sign ups.

they are trying to make netflix look good to advertise their services. this is marketing, not actual data analysis.

There it is.

Fuck. I saw the original post without this add-on. I didn’t fact check. I got pissed off at a general idea of people instead. I am not immune to the propaganda!!!

Ah.

I should have read the notes first. I am aggrieved, but also vindicated.

Neil Gaiman and the Good Omens team deserve so much better than to have something like this spoiled. It's one thing for Amazon Prime to accidentally spoil something, but it's entirely something else for "fans" to keep sharing the photo/video around.

It's just over a month to wait. I'm sure you're capable of waiting that long. Aziraphale and Crowley waited 11 years to see if their plans worked out, you can wait a month for season two.

And, no, I won't give context if you don't know what I'm talking about. Keep it that way. Show the show some respect.
